I just installed my class 3 hitch on my 2002 Trac. The question I have is for general towing ( A small trailer, my 74 Beetle etc) would I need any amount of drop for the ball mount?
On my old Dakota I had a 7" drop because of the lift kit on the truck. My Trac is a bone stock 4x4. So... would I need a drop or would a straight ball mount be correct?
BTW how do you measure a drop? Is it a specific distance from floor to receiver?

I actually have the ball raised up on my truck, it leveled out my 5'x10' utility trailer since it was originally sloping down towards the truck.

I've had two different trailers on the bumper (4x8 and 6x12). I'm not sure what the small one weighed in at, but the big one was pushing 2000lbs (total) and it seemed to be fine. but I think if I were to pull the trigger on a drawbar, I'd have to go with a 2" drop. The small trailer that I use the most, points up no matter what I have in it.
