Recon "White Lightning" LED Tailgate Bar
I installed a Recon "White Lightning" LED this weekend (purchased from Zabteck). This is is the second one of these I've had on my Trac. I'd had the first one for several years, until the Trac was rear-ended last winter and the original bar ended up FUBAR.

After installing the replacement this weekend, I noticed a slight production difference between it and the one I'd purchased several years ago. On the original bar, when you put the vehicle in reverse, the red LEDs would still function as brake/tail/turn signal lights, along with the white LEDs for reverse. My picture below from the installation of the original bar shows this:

However, with the new bar, when you put the vehicle in reverse, the red LEDs are now disabled, and the only illumination comes from the white LEDs when in reverse. At first I thought it might be a wiring issue, but all I did was plug the new bar into the four-pin connector and connect the white lead to the reverse light circuit, just like the original bar. :hmmm: So I could only conclude that Recon had changed the functionality of this product.

Just thought I'd share this...

I got a question for ya, how and where tdo you exactly have it mounted. Is it conected to the upper lip of the rear bumper?

Looks great. I've wanted on of those for mine, but just alittle to costly for me right now.

Yep, I mounted it on the upper lip of the rear bumper cover. The instructions call for it to be mounted on the bed, right under the tailgate. But on our Sport Tracs, that covers the spare tire crank access hole. All you need is some of the gray 3M bodyside molding tape. That stuff will hold anything on!

I followed a project on the "Other Site" that showed how to mount it on the bumper lip.

I also bought an extra four-pin connector and spliced it into the wiring harness underneath. That way, my regular four-pin is still available for towing, and all the connections for the light bar are tucked up out of sight.

Sweet. I like it.
