Wise not to tour the grow room in the basement!! :goofy:

I'm thinking of trying the upside down tomato plants this year too. I hate weeding my little garden and I've made no preparation for it this year.

I just laughed out loud at your reference to the "helicopters"  I thought that was just a "good-ole-boy" term!!

You need some Cayenne's & Habanero's to keep the bell peppers company........HOT is good!

The tomatoes seem to like growing upside down, although it's funny how the stems bend to grow right side up.

I looked at the topsey turvey thing and decided to build my own using a $3 planter from Walmart. Hell you can use a 5 gallon paint bucket!

I drilled a hole with a door knob drill, put a coffee filer in the hole, cut an X in the filter & popped the plant through the hole. Just add dirt & water LOL

I do have hot peppers in the garden but they are tiny seeding & I don't expect much from them.

After reading up on "harvesting" the romaine lettuce, my wife raided the garden this morning! LOL

Thats pretty cool man. I've been thinking about growing some peppers myself. Jalapenos and Habaneros. In fact, I just tilled up my 'garden' monday. I just need to get some topsoil now. Its mostly sand...but I did put some topsoil down last year and got some flowers to grow. So its not all bad. (enter Sam Kinison line here)

Peppers are a cinch, I planted mine in hanging pots...upside down. Real easy to make too hanging pot $3.00 at walmart,
I used a doorknob holesaw to make a hole on the bottom add a coffee filter over the hole, cut an X in the filter, push plant trough & add dirt & water.
Since peppers love heat I leave them in full sun & will bring them in in the winter.
I did the same with the tomatoes!

I'd totally be down for that. But I have no place to hang them. But I do work for a horse feed/aquaculture/hardware store so as soon as I finish my lunch, I'm going to take a walk across the parking lot to the store and see what they have.

That's the exhaust pipe for my whole house generator. I have to enclose it in a stainless Steel chimney stack.

The shed is the "Laboratory" for my renewable energy projects!

Just to post my progress on the garden, what a difference a few weeks make.
This was the 3 tomato & 2 pepper plants I originally hung up

As you can see, they have grown nicely. The new plants (long tomato plants) were my "ignored" seedling that grew on their own in the shed. I also have eggplant growing here.

As you can see, my original tomato plants are now producing a crop!

Moving down the line is the mint. I opted to keep them in a planter box as they will quickly overgrow.

This was the original garden I planted back in the beginning of April

It is growing extremely well, with very little maintenance, and my wife has been consistently harvesting the romaine lettuce & the spinach!!!

Although I have hot peppers growing, I have to find a source for super hot peppers...I like heat! :D

I noticed that one of my squash plants looked a bit "undernourished" & wilty for a week or so. My other squash plants are large & robust but not this one. I don't know if you can make it out in the pix below:

Reading up on this on the internet, I found that it has Bacterial Leaf Wilt. It appears its a U.S. disease that affects cucumbers, squash, pumpkins, and watermelon among other plants. Spread by the striped cucumber beetle. So I uprooted that plant & treated the others & my new cantaloupes with Sevin.

Hopefully it stops there!

Drats!! I hope the others will be ok.

I love seeing things that I planted grow. never tried growing actual vegetables or fruits though, always flowers.
