Not liking the auto 4x4
I am looking into disabling the auto 4x4 if it is possible, it would be nice to not have the bumping of it engaging when taking off from a slippery intersection when it is not really helping. I also find it annoying when backing up to hook up to the boat(on grass) and it kicks in. It is also nice to "slide" some corners once in a while :cool:
Anyone have any ideas? :type:

RiccoFX has done this. With TC, and all the nanny controls, I can't even get the back end to slide around in my 2wd.
Sweet. Thanks Korey looking forward to RiccoFX putting in his 2 cents :grin: Yea the TC is also a pain, but at least that can be shut down(up to 25 mph that is)
I tried doing some donuts in a snow covers parking lot and all I got out of it was some kind or slide in a wide arc, fun, but not what I am looking for :dance:

Hi Nobounce, I checked the DYI by Ricco, but it does not go into if he got it done or not. I am going to check with our local Ford expert in town here and see what he says.
Ricco, if you could give an update on if you did manage to disable the auto 4x4 or not I would appreciate it. Don't make me drive to Brandon and trac(pun intended) you down. It looks like your pics are somewhere in the east end? Anyway, I am sure yours is the only two tone black with a rockin' light bar on it :grin: so I could just cruise until I see you/it.

Hey guys! I'm back! Been busy with remote starter season! :goofy: Listen, I'll gonna put a few picks up and a diagram ASAP when I have time - hopefully within a week about how to Mod and bypass your Auto-4x4... I am also looking into the Adrenalin AWD models to see if it will work on those as well! :type: I haven't been on here lately due to being so busy at work and doing some custom audio setups - I'll post those as well too! I'll keep you up to date as soon as I can! :thumbsup:
Oh, hey Calvinman! Just noticed you where from Winnipeg! If you ever come by Brandon in the near future - come and see me at Visions on the highway! I can show you and/or even do the mod for you for the auto-4x4 bypass! Just look for my truck! (then again I usually park it out back near my bay door - lol)
BTW, my mod works 100% - I searched everywhere and asked everyone - nobody knows how - and since I am technically and electronically inclined, I just figured how the system worked and modded it myself - and it can easily be removed and undone - pretty much all it does is interrupts the power to the 4x4 control module at the fuse box - and by having a switch in the inside, it controls a normally closed relay that I modded a fuse jumper, to control when I want RWD only or normal operation! If you get a tuner like the SCT XF3 you can disable the TC as well otherwise you can disable it up to 45mph normally by pressing the traction control button! I'll hope its nice enough to give my truck a wash and take a few photos of the setup and hopefully give you guys a diagram on how to do it!
