woo hoo! congrats man, looks like things might be turning around already!
Great to hear JoeCool... Keep your head up, look at this as the first step in the right direction and many more to come... I'm glad you were able to work something out...
If you do find yourself in a pinch for cash and would like to sell your Rims & Tires, I may be interested in working something out with you, swap and cash, whatever! I'm not in a hurry... Just keep me in mind...
Take care of yourself and your family...
Thanks all! Glad to know some people actually still care about their fellow man.
So far as the job hunt goes, I am getting desperate. I gave up on my field (auto technician) about a month ago, heck Even Jiffy Lube isn't hiring! I am trying retail and fast food now! SHEESH, this economy is bad. Not just my job field, but factories are closing all the time. That is what I USED to do. Even the Mexicans are migrating away, no construction or landscaping jobs anymore. I think I may move to China, that seems to be where all the work is going!!!
Joe, I know you've been at this awhile but, this time of year is really bad to find jobs. Just keep at it. After the new year, there may be more openings.
That's good news about the loan. I figured they would work with you if you are honest up front.
The economy is very scary. I lost my job in '08. It took 6 months before I found another -- and it was right before the economy really went bad.
If you do move to China, you'd probably make $1/day, and work next to 10 yr olds -- making fake Gucci purses:)
Thanks all! Glad to know some people actually still care about their fellow man.

Joe,
Since you are a dealer tech, I assume you are ASE certified and have other certifications, have you considered working on your own.
Here's a suggestion. Gather up every certification you hold as references, make business cards with your contact info and set your hourly rate. Go to every dealer, auto repair, and service station within a designated radius. Offer your services on a "per diem" basis. Sort of as a back up when they are short handed, busy or someone calls in sick. There may be some interest, especially in small shops, since they would not have to cover any benefit costs. You would basically work on a 1099 as a contractor. This would be a good time to do the legwork before unemployment benefits deplete.
Just an idea
you say a retail job, shoot man if you lived closer to me i would have a spot for ya
