AW, now come on. You know I'm right!

Yeah, I know. I like Andy's wheels too. Just ribbing you!

Thanks for the photoshop. That helped a lot. For the look I'm going after, I like the black Pro Comp. One (only 1) of my local Costcos started selling them. However, I'm unsure of the longevity and care of the matte black? They are $119. They also make the same wheel in a gloss black with polished lip. I had gloss black on my Fusion, and like them. I've never like the looks of chrome. Polished would look OK, but the only other thing polished will be the "V8" emblems. I'll probably wait. Heck, I should just wait until I need tires also. 20s would look good, but I don't think I'd like the added weight. I'm even thinking of down-sizing to 16s -- since the wheels & tires are cheaper, and should be slightly lighter.

What about these:

The first ones would be less than $90 after discount. They look like a "truck" wheel, but I don't know? I'm so used to "spoke" design. The round-hole (Mickey Thompson classic) look would really be different.

Thanks for all your honest opinions.

PS. I agree with the look of polished on Cabreras. The 1st Gens had the gray trim/moldings, and black wouldn't really look right.

These are my favorite. They are a black chrome. They are pricey though.

^Cr@p -- they don't come in our bolt pattern.

Sorry for all the posts.

The Gunner 5 are great looking and come in 17"
I don't know how much rubber you have left on your Goodyears but to give you an idea I bought my 4 Predator rims & 5 Michelin LTX m/s, high speed balanced with locks & lugs and complete road hazard warranty, total cost $1,220. Then there was a $70 rebate on the tires So my bottom line was $1,150 at discount tire and they arrive in 3 day with free UPS shipping! BTW I had Goodyear Wranglers before, the Michilins are excellent & QUIET.
If you go 20" you will at best triple your rim cost and double your tire cost. Just some things to keep in your mind when making the decision. That was my main reason for staying with the stock size since offroad for me is my driveway
Take your time & do your research, it took me 3 months to find the perfect setup for me.

Depends on the rim/tire. I've seen some 20" rims on clearance at Tirerack for $170. Treadepot has some Cooper 20" tires (which actually rate well) for ~$100. Really, they're not much more. They were 4 years ago, but prices have really come down. I really don't need tires -- as I only have 13K on them. They still have ~9/32nds. I might was keep running them -- as they are not a horrible tire. Not superb either.

I really like these:

Not necessarily, That was was what I thought as well. Wheels were a little more expensive, maybe $75 more each, but tires were about the same price as the stock 17's. 18" and 20" tires have gone down a lot in the past few years. Mainly due to "supply and demand" due to the fact a lot of vehicles are using them stock now. Just try to stay with a common size, which is why I went with 275/55/20, they are used on F150, Silverado, and Tundra. My current Pirelli's were $135 each.

I may have to agree with some others though, I really like black wheels better on a black vehicle, like mine. Your color truck would look better with Silver, brushed, or polished aluminum, or even chrome. I merely picked out the black one because I hate the way the torq-thrust style looks on trucks.

Look on NTB.com, TireRack.com and DiscountTire.com and use their wheel simulator on your truck. That is what I did. Of course, I went with a wheel that really isn't designed for Explorer, more or less the backspace and pattern is for Ranger/F150. Had mine custom made.

And with my wheels (KMC XD series) in mind, check out
www.kmcwheels.com They have a lot of cool styles...
I REALLY LIKE THESE... WINK WINK...

OH, and how about machined face with black lip for an option?

Or this for old school:

This is the company NTB (may be Merchant's or TireKing near you) used to order my wheels, they have a lot of cool styles and suggestions there...

Since none of us can agree on a "finish", I think I'll just get these:

I could then add a camo bug shield, camo vinyl on the rocker panels, etc.

:)

WEll, I will make a decision on those... HECK NO!!!

stonemiser- 11-06-2009

All I can say is UUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMM no. There are a few full size trucks around me that has some of the "RealTree/Mossyoak stuff on thier vehicles. Not my cup of tea.

Best advice I can give is to go with whatever you like. We can give you our opinions, but it's you who have to drive the thing around. It's whatever you are happy with.
