Gen 1 bed extender
I got one at a good deal :grin: but didn't get the "striker bolt" pivot. :scratch: Since I have a junked bed I took the tailgate striker bolts off of it and tried to screw them into the hole in the bed that is provided for the extender. They wouldn't start. When I looked into the hole there is a metal insert but there are no threads. :hmmm: Can someone enlighten me here????

I just went through this....

The bolts will make their own threads as you screw them in. I would suggest the proper size torx bit in a ratchet so you can apply good pressure as you are turning. They will go, but it is a bit of effort.

I called the seller and he's agreed to my coming back and getting the pivots. So I'm going back next week and getting the correct pivots. Having the correct parts always helps..........

Went by and got the pivots Wednesday, put them on a little while ago. Works like a charm! :grin: Actually I am surprised that the pivots cut their own threads. :hmmm: Most self-threading bolts that size have a "cutter" made on the end of the bolt. It sure did it though. A bit of anti-seize on the second one made it go in much easier. :thumbsup:
