Nobounce,
Didn't take long at all. :hmmm:
psh, they finally processed my order yesterday, which was about three days after I made the order.
Got mine today!
Ok so since today was overcast and not that hot, I decided to put in the air shocks ( there's a surprise!)
Ok well for those who have not done this it's not that bad (ncranchero DEFINITLY do it before the bed is on!)
You will need all metric tools:
13mm socket for the lower OEM bolt
18mm socket for the lower OEM nut
13mm open end wrench for the upper OEM nuts
10mm open end wrench for the new air shock top bolts
13mm socket for the new air shock top nuts
1/2" wrench for the tee valve nut
Antisieze lubricant
The passenger side comes off pretty easily the driver's side is a pain getting the top front side nut off ( I used both a 13mm wrench & 3/8 ratchet to get it...be a contortionist) for the bottom bolts I used an air impact gun & a 1/2" breaker bar cuz I'm lazy. They would have come off easily.
Putting the shocks on I installed them with the lines facing out towards the frame as I was concrened that the spare may hit it.
(be careful to route the passenger side air line away from the exhaust pipe) I used the supplied holders ( no drilling used existing holds) and zip ties. Make sure you have slack so they don't pull when you lift.
I put the top bolts in form the top to make it easier to remove later.
Put antisieze on all the bolts!
I tightened the top bolts with a 10mm wrench on top and a 3/8 air ratchet with swivel, 6" extension & a 13mm socket (again cuz I'm lazy)
I installed the tee to the plastc piece under the truck which holds the license plate to hide the tee from SOB's who may think it's funny to let the air out.
First I filled it to 120psi (for fun), can you say RAT FINK! (you old guys know what I'm talking about) Then I set it at 80psi. Sat a little high in the rear for me. When down to 50psi still a little high in the rear but rode nice (and toight, like a Toiger) Dropped it to 35psi perfect factory ride height. Rode exactly as with the OEM Motorcraft shocks. Too soft for my taste, I went back to 50psi.
Next I may have to do the fronts. My shocks are original (Although the P.O. babied this truck after 77K mile it may be time).
Should I match the Monroes or go with RSX?
Sounds like a fun day was had by you! You'll have to post a pic of your Track with the shocks at 50 psi.
It's hard to tell with no bed on but mine seems to sit a bit higher in the back with the '05 springs.
nc, you may be alright if it sits up already. With 50psi, it lifts the springs up anyway. You won't be disappointed.
I actually FOUND my onboard air system stuff I had stashed away, surprised me! I usually put stuff up so I'll know where it is only to forget where I put it! :goofy: I should be able to rig something up with all of this stuff. I have a small reservoir too, not shown. Have a set of real nice fire truck air horns ....... tempting!

Were would you put the dash controller? Definitlely looks like a glove compartment stuffer!

Yeah loads, took 2 hours and I was covered in SWEAT!
I meant to post a pix.
Here she sits at 50 psi
I did find a problem with replacing to air shocks. My original shock were just that "Original" with 77k mile and they felt ok. Now that I replaced the rears to the airshocks, my front shocks feel too mushy.

i know what you saying man. the shocks that stones and I have only cost about 20 bucks a piece and work very well.
Well again I paid a visit to Amazon.com and ordered the front shocks. I decided to match the air shocks with Monroe Reflex shocks. Amazon had them for $37 each shipped.
Autozone only carry Gabriels &
Advance wanted $48 a piece for the same Monroes.
Ahh...more fun in the hot sun!!!
